I think the wind towers going up near Andover has it’s positives and negatives. A positive of this is that it is clean energy. Another positive is that it creates a lot of energy for the Groton area. A downside to this is that there will be many people going around that need a place to live. There may not be enough area around here for everyone to live while putting up the wind towers.

I think this will be a good additon to the Groton area. Wind is a good source of energy, and we have a lot of it. It will provide jobs to people around the area.

I think that the wind towers will be a good thing and create many jobs. They will help stimulate the economy in this area. I think the towers will make goose hunting in that area more difficult.

I think that this wind power thing will be good….. It’ll cost alot to start but im sure that in the end it will save us plenty of money. Its kinda cool that it is going to be one of the most expensive projects in SD history and its going to be 20 miles away…..
September 11th, 2009 at 7:41 am
I think the wind farm would be good for the area because of the power and it gives people a chance to get jobs working on it while the building process is going on and when it is built it needs mantince workers.
September 11th, 2009 at 7:43 am
I think they will be a good thing for day county and surrounding counties due to the fact that they will hep with power shortages and what not. They are very neat up close too! I have been up to the farm by Leola and they are very cool.

It seems like a good idea to start using South Dakota’s wind potential. Also creating more jobs will be a good thing, even if some of the workers have to migrate from Mexico. Hopefully we will eventually be able to use renewable energy for all our power.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:54 am
I think the wind farm will be great for renewable energy sources. It might provide new jobs around the area. It might increase population and the increase will bring even more jobs and ideas to this area.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:56 am
It would cost a lot of money to put up the wind farm. But it will be a great source of energy for South Dakota. It will help out our environment more. It will bring more jobs to South Dakota.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:58 am
I think this is a good idea for the Groton and South Dakota area. The only problem is will the wind farm cost more than make itself useful in the area. I think it will also bring new people in to Groton and Andover areas. I hope it will also improve the school.
September 11th, 2009 at 11:59 am
A wind farm will be great for the local economy. The town which it is located by, Andover, will most likely increase in size and productivity. Other towns like Bristol, Webster, and Groton will increase revenue and local businesses will surge. Also with the new employees moving in will create a surge in the local school systems. Also this would be a great way to contribute to renewable energy sources and take advantage of our natural resources.
September 11th, 2009 at 12:06 pm
I think that the wind energy project is something that will benifit our area. I also think that an alternate source of energy would be a good thing. It will also provide jobs for qualified workers
September 11th, 2009 at 12:10 pm
This wind energy will help out the northern part of South Dakota. It will help out all the businesses around the northern part of the state. It will put a lot of jobs in the area.
September 11th, 2009 at 12:11 pm
this is a good idea to be using wind energy because it’s a safe and clean souce of energy. although it’ll take up farm space. it’ll give about 250 people new jobs and to help out the environment.
September 11th, 2009 at 12:16 pm
I think that this is a good idea because it will reduce the amount of nonrenewable resources that we will have to use. It will allow about 250 people with jobs. I think that it will improve the schools too.
September 11th, 2009 at 12:44 pm
I think that this will be good and bad on our community. The good will be the obvious, we will have more energy for less cost. The bad will be that they will take up land so farmers that are affected by this will be looking for more land which means more competition. Personally I don’t really care because it doesn’t effect me but it will effect other people.
September 11th, 2009 at 12:46 pm
I think if we can use wind power we should use it. We have wind in all parts of South Dakota and it can get really strong at some times. So I think South Dakota is a perfect place to have wind towers. It is also a good project because when they start it, it will create new opportunities for people to find jobs. So overall I think bringing in wind energy to South Dakota is a good thing.
September 11th, 2009 at 12:47 pm
I think this is a good idea. There are many advantages to wind power such as being safer for the environment, and benefiting our whole community.
September 11th, 2009 at 12:49 pm
I think that wind energy farm would be a good idea because this would help South Dakota have a cleaner energy source. Wind energy is a good clean efficient energy and this would help the area become cleaner. I think this would have a positive impact on our area and it might help our area grow.
September 11th, 2009 at 12:49 pm
I think that this is a very good article about these wind mills. I really think that this is a good idea to put up wind mills in day county because it is a very efficient way of electricity. It will also create many jobs for many people.
September 11th, 2009 at 12:50 pm
The wind turbens will be a very good thing in our community
this will be a very big impact to because it will have everyone going to all of our small towns
September 11th, 2009 at 12:51 pm
I think this is a good idea because we need more energy. the wind is more efficient for getting energy. The only bad thing is that it will cost a lot of money
September 11th, 2009 at 1:35 pm
This is a good idea. I think that there is not really any negatives to this. Maybe in the short run but not in the long haul. The energy will be useful and safe. It doesn’t hurt that it will employ people also during the hard times in our economy
September 11th, 2009 at 1:37 pm
This will be a good thing for our state.
It will provide jobs.
I think they are scary, but it will be a good investment.l
September 11th, 2009 at 1:38 pm
So these wind farms will be good! They pay for themselves so that’s good too. But already with the wind farms in SD we produce more energy than we use. But it would cost money to send that energy farther away. So I suppose that we wouldn’t necessarily need them but they are good so why not? They produce some jobs so that’s good too.
September 11th, 2009 at 1:38 pm
I think that wind farms are a great idea. They provide a great source of renewable energy. Especially when renewable energies are on the rise. It will help the state out and provide jobs. It will help Groton because people will move to Groton to work on the wind farm. It might increase the amount of migrant workers. It will affect the landscape and soil. There won’t be as much farm land but I think that it will be positive for the state.
September 11th, 2009 at 1:39 pm
The wind towers will be a great thing for South Dakota. SD has a lot of wind and it will always be there so using it is a great thing!
But they should also take into consideration those who live around the area the wind turbines are being built.
I hope those working for the wind station and working to build it will take better care of the roads and care more about the land than those doing the pipeline did. From personal experience (the pipeline goes right by my house), they were so overloaded most of the time that they tore up the roads. There used to be several ways to get to and from my house, now I can only get in and out one way, and that’s only in fair weather, with rain it makes it very difficult to get down the road. Also, it cut off fields and pastures. My dad has cows he can’t reach because the pipeline didn’t provide a way for him to get to them.
Hopefully these people will take better care of the roads and such!

I think this article was pretty good. Since South Dakota has lots of wind using wind energy was a good idea. They should have thought about this a long time ago. It does cost a lot to make the wind mills and takes a long time to do this to. But in the long run it is a very good idea.
September 11th, 2009 at 1:40 pm
I think that it is a good idea to put a wind tower plant up. The reason i think that is a good idea is basically its like a free source of energy, and another thing is that just one of those wind towers generates alot of electricty
September 11th, 2009 at 1:40 pm
I think that the wind energy deal is a pretty sweet deal. It would power a bunch of houses and it’s also won’t pollute our air. I think wind energy is a good alternative to energy then using the ones that pollute our air.
September 11th, 2009 at 1:41 pm
I don’t have any problems with wind energy. In Denmark that is very common, you can see them on empty fields everywhere. They’re very clean, they’re not a major threat to wildlife, and they don’t wreck the landscape any more than telephone poles do. Personally, I’ve always liked seeing them, I think they look kind of nice. And it will be a good thing to make use of the wind in South Dakota, since there’s plenty of it. Once the windmills have been set up they don’t require a whole lot of attention. They function mostly on their own and only need to checked on and maintained every once in a while. I think it’s a good idea.
September 11th, 2009 at 1:41 pm
I think that wind energy is very good considering that we have wind almost all the time here. It doesnt pollute the air and the land can still be used near it. These will help to create jobs and bost the economy. I like the thought of having wind generators near groton.
September 11th, 2009 at 1:43 pm
This is a great idea. It will help out so much. And it will provide more jobs for a person which is a major plus. I can’t believe that this is happening right by Groton.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:03 pm
I think this is a very good idea and will benefit south dakota alot. It will be a great way to obtain free energy, as wind is very natural.
